Minutes of the East River Amateur Radio Club June 7, 2004 Ryan’s Steakhouse Bluefield, VA. http://www.erarc.com ((Please check out our site and make sure that your email address is correct, if you want it to be there. If not, please email the Webmaster, Dave Lester N8VFR.)) The June meeting of the ERARC was opened at 705pm by George Dietrich KF4YGL, ERARC President. There were 18 members and guests in attendance. George welcomed all. Treasurer's report by Bob Frazier WB8NRK, Bob said that he had applied for the 1 million dollar liability policy thru the Infinity insurance company (ARRL) and had not heard anything back from them. He called them on May 20 and they had no record of correspondence from the ERARC. He sent them a letter of explanation, another check for $325.00 and another application. Bob said that it will cost the club $15.00 to ‘put a stop’ on the original check. Discussion. Gary Kadar N8GK made a motion, seconded by John Riddle N8RIG, to pay the $15.00 and stop payment. A vote was taken and the motion passed. Hooger Fisher W4OF read the minutes. There were no additions, corrections, etc. George said that Betty Viers KG4CTL would be putting together an ERARC newsletter after Field Day and needs to have articles/submissions presented for publication. Hooger Fisher said that in years past, the members of the ERARC received a newsletter at least quarterly from the club and that the only mailings that we receive now are dues reminders and the ERARC handbook that Bob Frazier makes up each year. The biggest factor in this is the postage. He suggested that we consider mailing each current member a postcard stating that (1) Field Day will be at Boy Scout Camp Roland on June 26-27 (2) there will not be a July ERARC meeting or dinner at the event (3) there WILL be hot dogs, cold soda and birthday cake available at 5pm and (4) ask the recipient to please email Hooger at w4of@hotmail.com with their current email address, if available, in order to receive ONLY club news and ham related emails. Discussion. It was decided that Hooger will compose the message for the postcards, email it to Bob Frazier and Bob will print out the cards and mail them. George: Field Day 2004 will be the weekend of June 26-27, we will setup on Saturday around 10-11am and the contest will go into Sunday around noon or so. Bill Sowers K8WBS won the 50/50 drawing for the flower fund and donated half of HIS winnings back into the flower fund. ARES net control for June: 8th Lonnie Underwood KI4EED, 15TH Hooger Fisher W4OF, 22nd Jerry Connelly KC8TES and 29TH George Dietrich KF4YGL. The meeting was adjourned at 0740pm. Respectfully submitted, George “Hooger” Fisher 111, W4OF, Sec.
