Minutes of the East River Amateur Radio Club August 2, 2004 Ryan’s Steakhouse Bluefield, VA. http://www.erarc.com The August meeting of the ERARC was opened at 703pm by George Dietrich KF4YGL, ERARC President. There were 10 members and guests in attendance. George welcomed all. The Treasurer's report was given by Bob Frazier WB8NRK. Bob listed expenditures made. He mentioned that DUES ARE NOW BEING TAKEN FOR THE NEXT YEAR. Please contact Bob via email at bfrazier@frontiernet.net, by phone at 304-425-8464, or via mail at 505 Eads Mill Rd. Princeton, WV 24740 if you’d like to go ahead and renew. Discussion. Bob decided that he would wait ‘a week or so’ before mailing out dues reminders. Dues are still $10 per member and $1 each for each additional member at the same mailing address. Thurman Williams WD4HTI and David Garrett KA4TXY are the only members who have paid up to 2006. Hooger Fisher W4OF read the minutes. There were no additions, corrections, etc. Bill Sowers K8WBS said that he had checked into ‘the coffee net’ a day or so ago and Alex Hedrick N8FWL mentioned that there was a large network of 222 machines linked up in the Southern WV and Southwest Va. areas. The ‘backbone’ of the system is on Flat Top. There is an ERARC VE test session on August 14, 2004, 9am, at the Mercer Co. 911 Center, Green Valley. All tests will be given. Talk-in will be on the 145.49- repeater. Bob Frazier said that he had heard an aeronautical mobile on 146.52 taking check-ins. Keep the national highway simplex frequency on hand; you’ll never know what you may hear. Don Anderson WD8OOR mentioned that the hard line to the 442.45 repeater was OK but that the ‘jumper’ from the hard line to the antenna needed to be replaced and that Jay Belt K8CTI was just the man to climb the tower and replace it. Discussion. We decided that between Don and Jay, they would get the replacement coaxial feed line and materials together and replace the faulty portion. ARES net control for August: 3rd George Dietrich KF4YGL, 10TH Jerry Connelly KC8TES 17th Hooger Fisher W4OF, and 24th and 25th not taken. The meeting was adjourned at 733pm. Respectfully submitted, George “Hooger” Fisher 111, W4OF, Sec.
