Minutes of the East River Amateur Radio Club December 03, 2001 meeting ACME Fresh Markets, Community Room, Bluefield,VA (www.inetone.net/erarc) please note that these minutes are posted here also. The December meeting of the ERARC was opened at 0700pm by President George Dietrich kf4ygl. There were 50 members and guests in attendance. This meeting followed the ERARC Christmas dinner, which started at 6pm. George welcomed all to the meeting and asked if there were any pressing need to bring up old or new business. Bill Sowers stood up and said that some of the people who check into the 1030am coffee net (through the ’49 remote base) were wondering if the link could be ‘up’ for the weekly Tuesday ARES net. (This net covers a good bit of WV and VA all the way to the other side of Richmond.) It was decided that we’d try it out and see how it goes. Gary Kadar n8gk asked for a current report as to what was able to connect via remote base on the new 442.45 and 145.49 repeaters. Jay Belt k8cti said that on 440, the combinations were: 2M, 440, 220 and on ’49: 2M and 440. He said that he’s still looking for a 220 radio for the remote system for the ’49. John Riddle n8rig mentioned that there is a 2M simplex link to the 6Meter machine on 146.55. One can get on 146.55, transmit the proper DTMF sequence, and ‘open up’ the 6M machine. (The directions are in the new ERARC Handbook). ARES net controls for Dec.: 4th George Dietrich kf4ygl 11th Shannon Akers kc8qnc 18th Hooger Fisher w4of 25th Betty Viers kg4ctl. Harold Hodges n8ncp made a motion and was seconded by Dave Cox kg4mcc to end the meeting. The meeting was over by 712pm. Patty Dietrich kg4aym and Betty Viers kg4ctl, helped by young Miriam Chambers and L.A. Farmer’s grandson, drew tickets for the door prizes. We’d like to thank all of those that donated doorprizes: Warlick Furniture (Gay Riddle), EIMCO (Harold Hodges), Patty/George Dietrich, Ed/Betty Viers, Woody Bailey KG4LSZ, Betty/Ron Chambers, Carol/John Riddle, the ERARC, Ginny/Hooger Fisher. Patty Dietrich put together all of the center pieces that decorated the tables. They were given away as door prizes also. We need to also thank ACME Fresh Markets, George Scott N4QQM, manager, for the wonderful buffet and meeting room. ACME went above and beyond in making our dinner a success. They also provided the candy tins that were present on the dinner tables. Respectfully submitted, George E. "Hooger" Fisher III, W4OF, Secretary
