The July meeting of the ERARC was opened at 640pm by Hooger Fisher W4OF, ERARC Secretary. There were 26 members and guests in attendance. This meeting followed the 6pm potluck dinner at Boy Scout Camp Roland in Bastian, Va. during Field Day weekend. Hooger welcomed all and encouraged all in attendance to sign the register book and asked if there was any immediate business that needed to be brought up before the club. No one had pertinent business. Discussion. Bill Sowers K8WBS made a motion, seconded by Dale McCarty KD4IFD to dispense with the last month’s minutes, business, and etc. until the August 2006 meeting, since nothing was pressing and Field Day activities were ongoing. The meeting was over by 0645pm. Addendum: There were many discussions during the weekend that came up with topics for discussion during the next ERARC meeting, including: 1) Gary Kadar N8GK tried to start the little generator and said that he smelled varnish. John Riddle N8RIG suggested that the club ask Russel Taylor KC8GBE to see if his brother would service the generator for the club. 2) Bill Sowers K8WBS mentioned that the club had, at one time, discussed obtaining bandpass filters for use at Field Day, VHF contest, etc. but no action was taken. He said that we needed to revisit this topic. 3) Bob Frazier needs to have an equipment inventory done to as to list what we actually have on hand vs. what we’re being charged for via the insurance company. He needs to verify items on his old inventory as well as serial numbers. He said that he would email Hooger his old inventory list for comparison. 4) Dave Cox N4DBC - We should follow up on getting a multi-band antenna and coax to keep with the club radio/power supply/tuner for emergency situations. Maybe a G5RV or K1JEK (Cobra ultralite www.K1JEK.com) and 50-75 ft. of RG-8x or RG-58 (depends on type of antenna we get). I think that this would be useful because the clubs dipoles are not kept in the same location as the radio and during emergencies you might not be able to gather the other equipment (road closings, etc.) Also you could demonstrate or use multiple bands (with the aid of the tuner) during field day activities. We could possibly get the materials to make such an antenna, and then proceed to build it (one step at a time) at or after our monthly club meetings. 5) Bob Frazier WB8NRK, ERARC Treasurer, reminds us that he's now taking renewals for Club memberships. Email him at: bfrazier@frontiernet.net or mail to him at: 505 Eads Mill Rd., Princeton, WV 24740. Dues are still just $10 and $1 extra for each person at the same mailing address. Submitted by Hooger Fisher W4OF, ERARC Secretary.
