Minutes of the East River Amateur Radio Club meeting. July 2, 2007 Ryan’s Steakhouse Bluefield, VA. http://www.erarc.com The July meeting of the ERARC was opened at 7pm by Lonnie Underwood KI4EED, ERARC Vice President. There were 20 members and guests in attendance. Bob Frazier WB8NRK, ERARC treasurer, gave his report.(The amount in the flower fund over $150 is going into the General Fund for the ERARC.) Hooger Fisher W4OF read the minutes from the June meeting. He also passed around the report sent to the ARRL for the ERARC’s Field Day totals. Claimed FD points: 1616, QSO points 646 Bonus points 970. D.M. Orr KB8FLE had said in June that he had picked up a bunch of stuff at the Dayton Hamvention including World maps, frequency charts, hats, a shirt, and other ham-related items. He suggested that we have an auction for the items to benefit the ERARC coffers. THERE WILL BE AN AUCTION ON AUGUST 6 AT THE ERARC MEETING for these and other items. (Do you have something that’s OK that you’d like to donate to the cause? All items for auction will be accepted). Jerry Connelly KC8TES, Mercer Co. EC said that the WV ARES organization is in the planning stages for the Fall SET (Simulated Emergency Test) radio event. John Riddle N8RIG said that the big generator is being looked at after it quit putting out power at Field Day. Gary Kadar mentioned that the Club’s tri-bander antenna was broken at the feed line connection. Bob Frazier is in the process of repairing it. ******* Don Anderson WD8OOR is NEEDING A WORK PARTY TO HELP DISASSEMBLE THE 147.06 KA8PNC 2M REPEATER, TOWER, BUILDING AND ASSOCIATED HARDWARE, hopefully this Saturday, July 7, after breakfast. The tower is a 50’ model and is located on Mink Farm Road (off of Wickham Avenue) in Princeton. The antenna belongs to Bob Frazier and the 4’ x 4’ x 5’ building needs to be removed also. ******** Gary Kadar brought up the fact that Bob Frazier is now spending $45-50 per flower order sent for deaths. He suggested that we, as a Club, donate $30 to a charity in the name of the deceased and have the charity send the family affirmation that the Club sent a donation. It was suggested that the Club follow any request for donations per the family’s wishes, otherwise, Harold Hodges N8NCP suggested the Union Mission in Bluefield. Discussion. Gary made a motion, seconded by Harold to adopt this policy. Vote taken, motion passed. Roger Nisselrodt KI4SZA mentioned that the 145.49 Echolink had been off the air. Jay Belt K8CTI said that he didn't’t know about the problem and would reset the system. Gary mentioned the bad 50’ section of feed line that we tried to use at Field Day. Jay Belt said that he’d put his analyzer on it and check it out. Gary suggested that we take some of the items off of the “to do” list since the Club is low on funds. Discussion. We’ll take off “band-pass filters for Field Day/VHF contest” and packed items for the Club’s FT-100 as it’s completed now since Jerry Connelly donated at G5-RV to the Club. Bill Sowers K8WBS and Gary Kadar wanted to be sure to thank Trancy Belcher KA8CFR and his wife, Don Anderson, Ginny Fisher KF4YBU and everyone else for all of the food that they brought for Field Day dinner and breakfast. The box of wyes, headphone jacks and speakers were missing at Field Day and Lonnie said that he had them at home. He’ll get them to Bob for storage. Bob Frazier wanted the Club’s input on sending out the early August reminders in the mail for Club dues renewal. Discussion. He will send them out. *****DUES ARE NOW $15.00 PER MEMBER WITH A $1.00 ADDITION FOR EACH MEMBER AT THE SAME MAILING ADDRESS.
