George welcomed all in attendance. There were 22 members and guests. George and Don Anderson WD8OOR gave a brief updates on the conditions of Bob Frazier WB8NRK, ERARC treasurer and Bill Sowers K8WBS, both of whom have had serious heart problems as of last week. Bob needs bypass surgery and is in CAMC in Charleston, WV. Bill is at Duke University after his transfer from the VA hospital in Beckley, WV. No treasurer's report available. Minutes from the last meeting read. George: FIELD DAY: June 22-23, Boy Scout Camp Roland, Bastian, Va. Discussion about getting equipment, etc. Don Anderson said that he'd make sure to get all that we needed from Bob Frazier's storage area and that he'd haul the supplies on his trailer and bring it back. George asked Don to be sure to let everyone know when to show up and help load. Russel Taylor KC8GBE will be contacted to see which poles, etc. are needed to put together a 'small' shelter for use at Field Day. George suggested that the club buy soda for the training event. Discussion. Hooger Fisher W4OF will call Gay Riddle and/or Warlick's Furniture to see if the club still has any paper goods stored there and get them for our use. We decided that the 6pm meal/meeting on Saturday, June 22, 2002 will be a pot-luck affair. John Riddle N8RIG said that Jay Belt K8CTI ordered the HF rig, power supply and tuner 'today' and that they 'were on their way' for use. We'll be able to use them for Field Day. John also mentioned that Bob Hoge N8RIR had previously said that we could use the 911's HF rig for Field Day. Gary Kadar N8GK said that he was contacted by Mark Vestich, Bluefield Regional Medical Center Foundation, concerning our request for $650.00 in additonal funding for the HF rig, PS, tuner. Mark asked Gary if the requested radio would or could help the hospital in any way and Gary explained the coverage of an HF radio, etc. Evidently, Mark was getting information together for the hospital so that they could make a determination on the request. Discussion. Gary asked the secretary if he'd send the Bluefield Area Foundation a letter inviting them to Field Day so that they could see their donated items in use. The secretary said that he'd do this. George asked each person present to stand and introduce themselves since there were guests and new members present. Guests included Bill Fisher WA8RHT and wife, Joyce, N8OLY, from Texas, new members/guests: Greg Testerman KC8UAE, Michael Testerman KC8UCB, and Jerry Connelly KC8TES. The Fishers moved to Texas from Bluefield about two years ago. Jerry Connelly won the 50/50 drawing for the flower fund. He donated some of his winnings back to the club. George asked for further business. There being none, the meeting was over at 0740pm. Respectfully submitted, George E. "Hooger" Fisher III, W4OF, Secretary
