Minutes of the East River Amateur Radio Club meeting. June 5, 2006 Ryan’s Steakhouse Bluefield, VA. http://www.erarc.com The June meeting of the ERARC was opened at 703pm by George Dietrich KF4YGL, ERARC President. There were 30 members and guests in attendance. Bob Frazier WB8NRK, ERARC treasurer, gave his report. Gary Kadar N8GK was asked about the May 13 VE test session. Gary reported that there were three people who tested and all passed their tests. There were two new Technicians and Lonnie Underwood KI4EED passed his 5wpm CW test. CONGRATULATIONS TO LONNIE. Gary said that they sent all of the monies for the testing to the ARRL. Hooger Fisher read the minutes of the May meeting. Don Anderson reported that the ’49 and 442.45 repeaters are working OK for now. ’49 has had some crazy receive problems and transmit problems. Don and Jay Belt K8CTI went to the mountain this past weekend to check the systems. Jay said that Don sprayed the tower sites with weed killer. They visited the 444.45 site and removed the repeater for repair and Don sprayed weeds there too. George brought up Field Day, June 24-25 at Boy Scout Camp Roland in Bastian, Va. Much discussion. Bottom lines: 1.WE WILL HAVE THE ERARC MEETING AT FIELD DAY ON SATURDAY, JUNE 24. A COVERED DISH DINNER WILL BE HELD AT 6PM AND THE MEETING WILL FOLLOW. Ginny Fisher KF4YBU will bring 50 pieces of chicken and Patty Dietrich KG4AYM encouraged everyone else attending the dinner/meeting to bring a covered dish. 2. We will meet for Saturday breakfast at the Valley Country restaurant in Green Valley around 8am or so (June 24) and decide as to who will go to Bob’s to load Gary’s trailer with antennas, feed lines, etc. We'll meet at Camp Roland around 10-11am. 3. Those bringing HF rigs: Gary Kadar, Dave Cox N8DBC, Bill Sowers K8WBS, Harold Hodges N8NCP and the Club’s radio. It was mentioned that Randall Hash WB4BBF would like to run a CW station on 20 or 40 meters, preferably. 4. Bob will have his 33 gallon (or so) gas barrel ready and will purchase two cases of soda pop for the event. 5. CAMP ROLAND HAS MANY ACRES IN WHICH TO CAMP, RIDE BIKES, FISH, ETC. FOR ANYONE WANTING TO ATTEND AND/OR SPEND THE DAY AND/OR NIGHT. Bathrooms are available on the premises. 6. John Riddle is getting Benny Mill’s (N8XXA) tower trailer and surfcaster fishing rod. 7. Any one can operate HF during Field Day under the club’s call sign no matter what their license privileges. Verna Brown, guest of Betty Viers KG4CTL, won the 50/50 drawing for the flower fund.
