The January meeting of the ERARC was opened at 0700pm by President George Dietrich kf4ygl. There were 20 members and guests in attendance. George thanked Betty Viers kg4ctl for providing a club newsletter for distribution at the meeting. BETTY NEEDS ARTICLES FOR THE NEWSLETTER! PLEASE CONTRIBUTE. George passed around an article concerning amateurs helping with communications at the Salt Lake City Olympics. The treasurer report was given. The Hamfest account is Closed. Bob is holding remaining Hamfest funds in his possession in order to pay costs of closing the Hamfest Club with the WV Secretary of State. The remaining funds will automatically go into the ERARC account afterwards. Don Anderson has the paperwork in his possession to close the Hamfest Club and will get it processed. Bob mentioned that for those who had purchased a Sam’s Club membership card through the club need to renew by sending Bob a check made out to ERARC for $15.00 for individual and $10.00 for corresponding spouse, if warranted. He mentioned those who needed to renew if wanted: Betty Viers, Kay Bailey, David Miller, Harold and Debbie Hodges, George Fisher. Secretary: Minutes read from February meeting. George brought up about the club tables that we are trying to sell. Gay Riddle kd4ife had contacted the Bluefield Elks and as of last phone call with her, the Elks have not responded. Don Anderson wd8oor said that all of the repeaters were working fine. Hooger Fisher w4of asked if the digital repeaters were OK and John Riddle n8rig said that they were working fine. Tom Gordon ww8d mentioned that he’d checked with Kroger Corporation concerning donations to non-profit organizations and said that if he had a written request for funding for a specific need, that he’d send it on to the proper persons. After discussion, Hooger Fisher said that he’d email the needed information to Tom. John Riddle mentioned that the Charlotte Hamfest is this weekend, Sat-Sun March 9-10. The next ARRL VE testing will be the first weekend in May at Bluefield State College (first weekend due to commencement exercises on the second weekend). George Dietrich reminded everyone that Field Day would be held on the third weekend in June on June22-23, Sat-Sunday. Bob was asked if he knew if Doug Barger had sent the Feb. 9 VE test materials in to the FCC or ARRL. He said that he and Gary Kadar had tried to contact Doug with no luck. A new member in attendance, Jerry Conley, said that he’d contacted the FCC and that they have not received the testing packet. John Riddle asked Bob Frazier if he’d call the ARRL and see if they’ve received the materials. Bob said he would. Trancy Belcher ka8cfr won the 50/50. The meeting was over at 0737pm.
