Minutes of the East River Amateur Radio Club May 5, 2003 Ryan's Steakhouse, Bluefield, VA. http://www.erarc.com The May meeting of the ERARC was opened at 659pm by George Dietrich KF4YGL. There were 15 members and guests in attendance. Bob Frazier, WB8NRK, treasurer, gave his report. Bob said that he DID purchase three "Now You're Talking" Technician Study books and that they were in the Princeton, Bluefield (WV) and Bluefield (VA) libraries. The minutes from the April meeting were read and approved. Jay Belt K8CTI said that the grounding system was in place, installed, and working at the '49 site. He also said that the Caterpillar battery has been replaced with a UPS for the radios. George reminded everyone about Field Day in June and it was decided that the event would be held at Boy Scout Camp Roland in Bastian, Va. It appeared that a letter had been sent requesting permission to do so. Antennas for Field Day: may try verticals this year. A question arose re: "People are asking if the 440 machine(s) are open to people coming back to the repeater. Don Anderson WD8OOR said that everything was open." Someone brought up the "WV Amateur Radio of the Year" form. No one expressed any interest. Bob Frazier WB8NRK mentioned that he had a lot of old QST magazines if anyone wanted them. ARES net controls: 6th Tom Gordon WW8D, 13TH George Dietrich KG4YGL, no takers for the 20th or 22nd. There being no more business, the meeting was closed at 0724pm Respectfully submitted, Gary Kadar N8GK, recorder, George "Hooger" Fisher 111, W4OF, Sec. (absent)
